It’s unusual and fun to invite your guests at a barn wedding reception. Although perfect for cowboy or western-themed weddings, other types of receptions are not impossible to be organized there. Dress up the barn with decorations and lightning and you will see that it is amazingly transformed into an interesting location.

Decorate the barn to create the setting you consider appropriate. For a country-themed wedding, sprinkle straw on the ground and make an altar or delimitate the dance floor with bales of hay. To allow guests to sit down, lay denim pieces over the hay. If the wedding is western-themed, use old wagon wheels, whips and saddles as decorating items and place them in the key sections of your location. If you think that your barn is still too big and bare, consider draping fabric from the ceiling and wrapping it around the posts. Natural elements can also be added and they will be large plants or trees. For these two types of weddings long picnic tables with mismatched chairs work best. However, if your wedding is rustic, but you don’t want to emphasize this aspect too much, use round tables and dress them in fancy linens. The idea is still preserved, but a drop of elegancy is added and this alters everything in an instant. Checkered tablecloths are ideal for a casual reception, but if you want to organize a more formal wedding reception then bright, crisp linens and napkins should be used. Centerpieces should be simple, but beautiful and suitable for this occasion. Pumpkins, wildflowers or votive candles can be combined or can be used individually to create nice table arrangements.

As barns don’t have adequate lightning and most probably your wedding reception will continue long after the sun goes down, you must create a pleasing ambience. You can hang paper lanterns all over the barn and use votive candles to provide soft and delicate lightning, or you can string holiday lights from the ceiling and wrap them in colored tulle.

Give something sweet to your guests after the barn wedding reception is over. Wrap a piece of denim or a checkered fabric around jars of jam and bags of candies and tie it with twine or raffia. Your wedding photos and the amazement of receiving inspired wedding favors will make this barn wedding reception one that your guests will always remember with great pleasure.
